Title of the Project
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for Environment and Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific

Summary
The private business has been expanding as the countries in Asia and the Pacific undergo rapid economic growth and industrialization. The corporate behaviors throughout the supply chain exert a great deal of impacts on environmental sustainability and long-term sustainable development.

A greater need for information exchange and collaboration remains to be worked out between the regions of Northeast Asia and Southeast Asia to promote an integrated Asian CSR effort which is distinct from the West. It will be more important as East Asian countries proceed with the process of their economic integration. The project on CSR in Asia is an attempt to bring together experts from the different government, corporate and NGO sectors to explore ways to promote such an initiative on CSR for environment and sustainable development, to reverse the scenarios of eco-dumping and ‘race to the bottom’ to promote environmentally accountable investments, and enable Asian stakeholders to amalgamate their efforts to move forward on the path toward achieving sustainable development.
