Title of the Project
Promoting education for sustainable development through conservation and sustainable use of forest resources and empowerment of the Regional Center for Expertise on Education for sustainable Development in Cebu

Summary
Composed of multisectoral partners from the academe, local government units, local government agencies, business, media, youth, and differentially challenged sectors, RCE-Cebu is eager to launch its initial focal projects aimed to address important challenges to sustainable development in the region.

This proposal pertains to RCE-Cebu’s multidimensional project entitled REPORMA, a word that means change, and which stands for REsource, POverty and Poverty Response, Mapping and Management.

The project intends to develop  ESD knowledge teams and networks within the selected communities that are, in turn, expected to help manage and conserve the proclaimed 123 hectares Experimental Forest Station (DAO 51 Series of 2004) managed by the Ecosystems Research and Development Service (ERDS) of DENR Region 7, an active RCE-CEBU partner.

For the selected communities of Minglanilla, in particular, it is important for the community stakeholders to know what poverty responses have been applied by whom and when. It is also important to know if these poverty responses have been inventoried and evaluated in terms of their effectiveness or ineffectiveness for the poor in their communities.

Combining the inventory and mapping of resources and resource management as well as poverty indicators with poverty responses for communities may produce a more comprehensive framework for meeting anew the challenges of sustainable development of regions all throughout for and by the community residents themselves, in cooperation with external partners where necessary.
